I’ve always loved the vigilante/guardian angel image of Sherlock, as much as he himself might resent it. There are so many facets - he knows more than probably anybody of what’s going on in the mind of the city (Mycroft excluded), he doesn’t do his job for thanks or any sort of divine approval or money and therefore doesn’t choose his clients under those conditions, he’s very much alien to most things human, he doesn’t eat…. And that’s not even talking about challenging the devil, self-sacrifice for protection and being sort of immortal (in legacy and reality).

…Don’t even get me started on the battlefield.
